Accordi Musicali Festival 2026 is proud to welcome distinguished Austrian pianist and conductor Stefan Vladar to its upcoming edition, adding another major international name to the festival’s prestigious artistic line-up.

With a remarkable career spanning several decades, Vladar has performed in the world’s leading musical capitals and established himself as one of the most versatile musicians of his generation. His international breakthrough came after winning the International Beethoven Piano Competition in 1985, launching a celebrated pianistic career that brought him collaborations with some of the greatest conductors of our time, including Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Sir Neville Marriner, Yehudi Menuhin, Seiji Ozawa, Sir Simon Rattle, and Christian Thielemann.

As a soloist, he has appeared with such renowned ensembles as the Vienna Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Camerata Salzburg, and NHK Symphony Orchestra. His performances have also graced internationally renowned festivals including Salzburg Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, London Proms, Mostly Mozart Festival in New York, and the Edinburgh Festival.

Alongside his pianistic achievements, Vladar has built an equally distinguished conducting career. He served for eleven years as Chief Conductor of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and since the 2019/20 season has been General Music Director of Lübeck Theatre, where he has led both symphonic concerts and a wide operatic repertoire.

A respected pedagogue, Vladar has been Professor of Piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 1999 and has received Austria’s Golden Medal of Honour for Services to the Republic.
