Shining a spotlight on soloists from all around the world as they perform a collection of maestro Shor's enchanting compositions, Accordi Musicali has become a hallmark of Italy's cultural landscape, proudly reaffirming its dedication to the beauty of classical music while nurturing the talents of tomorrow.
A much-anticipated highlight of the festival is the performance of the one and only Marios Papadopoulos, a British maestro described by The Times at his 1975 piano recital debut as ‘having all the attributes of one of the world’s greatest players’. An esteemed pianist and conductor, Papadopoulos has performed all around the world, having worked with a roster of eminent musicians, including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Maxim Vengerov, Renée Fleming, Martha Argerich and Lang Lang.
Founder and Music Director of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra in Residence at the University of Oxford, Papadopoulos has appeared as a soloist with and conducted many of the world’s greatest orchestras, including the Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. The virtuoso is also a prolific recording artist with a catalogue that includes his critically acclaimed Beethoven sonatas, performances of Stravinsky’s Concerto for Piano and Wind with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Hyperion), works by Mozart, Mussorgsky, César Franck and the 24 Preludes and Fugues by Shostakovich.
