Opening the concert was Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata No. 4 for Piano and Violin, a piece of refined interplay and subtle tension that Kim and von Eckardstein rendered with expressive clarity and chamber intimacy. A dramatic shift in mood then followed with Ernest Chausson’s Poème, Op. 25, a work known for its lush harmonies and dreamlike lyricism.
After this, there came a burst of fiery virtuosity with Niccolò Paganini’s La Campanella, before Von Eckardstein took the spotlight for a performance of Robert Schumann’s Waldszenen, Op. 82, offering a moment of introspective calm.
The evening’s modern offerings began with Alexey Shor’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1, a richly lyrical and emotionally evocative composition that allowed both performers to explore a broad palette of colours and moods. The programme then closed with Roman Kim’s own composition, Cri de l’âme, a stirring and deeply personal work for violin and piano, that served as a stunning conclusion, being met with a standing ovation from the Teatro Marrucino audience.
Now three days into its run, the 2025 Accordi Musicali Festival continues to affirm its status as one of Italy’s most vibrant celebrations of classical music, blending historic beauty, contemporary artistry, and international talent.
