The seventh day of Accordi Musicali 2025 offered audiences a remarkable evening of musical excellence, with not one but two outstanding concerts staged in two of Abruzzo’s most picturesque settings.

Double Delight as Accordi Musicali Brings World-Class Performances to Città Sant’Angelo and Chieti

From the sunlit elegance of Città Sant’Angelo’s Tenuta Coppa Zuccari to the historic grandeur of Chieti’s Teatro Marrucino, festival-goers were treated to an inspiring celebration of both classical masterworks and contemporary artistry.

The evening began at 7:00 pm in Città Sant’Angelo, where French cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière and French pianist Michel Beroff performed an exquisitely crafted duo recital. Their programme, full of beloved treasures from the classical canon, also featured a striking contemporary addition in the form of a work by the festival’s Composer-in-Residence, Alexey Shor. The refined interplay between cello and piano, coupled with the venue’s intimate and atmospheric setting, created a performance of striking immediacy that resonated deeply with the audience.

Just two hours later, attention shifted to Teatro Marrucino in Chieti, where American violinist Maria Ioudenitch and American pianist Stanislav Ioudenitch took to the stage. Their programme opened with Alexey Shor’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1, a work that allowed both musicians to display their lyrical sensitivity and technical precision. This was followed by Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata No. 10 for Violin and Piano in G major, Op. 96, whose serene elegance and energetic dialogues were brought to life with poise. Closing the evening was Francis Poulenc’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, FP 119, a bold and expressive work performed with verve, capturing Poulenc’s wit, passion, and poignancy in equal measure.
