As the first event of what promises to be an exceptional celebration of classical music across Italy’s Abruzzo region, the evening set an inspiring tone for the days to come.

The opening concert featured a dazzling performance by celebrated violinists Pavel Vernikov (Switzerland) and Svetlana Makarova (Switzerland), who were joined by the Orchestra “Duchi d’Acquaviva” under the direction of conductor Nataliya Gonchak (Italy). Together, they delivered a programme that seamlessly blended technical brilliance with emotive depth, earning enthusiastic applause from the packed audience in the hall.

With the musicians presenting Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Divertimento in D major, K. 136, the concert transported listeners through some of the most iconic and virtuosic works in the classical repertoire, with the programme also including Edward Elgar’s Serenade for Strings in E minor, Op.20, Andrei Pushkarev’s Fantasia Odessa, and Alexey Shor’s Concerto for Two Violins, leaving leaving concertgoers on their feet in appreciation as the final notes rang through the theatre. Indeed, as the festival's curtain-raiser, the evening not only spotlighted the calibre of performers taking part in this year’s edition, but also reaffirmed Accordi Musicali’s mission of bringing world-class talent to some of the most scenic and culturally rich venues in Italy.

With multiple concerts in the pipeline, Accordi Musicali 2025 will continue across various cities in Abruzzo, featuring acclaimed soloists such as Fabrizio Meloni, Pietro De Maria, Nikolaj Znaider, Victor Julien-Laferrière, Michel Beroff, and many others. Highlights still to come include performances in Teatro Rossetti (Vasto), Tenuta Coppa Zuccari (Città Sant'Angelo), and Teatro Comunale (Atri), amongst others, each offering audiences a diverse selection of chamber and orchestral masterpieces.
